Consumption & Preservation

Natural sediment – shake before use

Very fine particles from ginger, lemon, turmeric and black pepper can pass through filtration and gradually settle in the refrigerator.

This is normal: Sediment alone does not mean the product is spoiled.

Shake well before use: Shake the tightly closed bottle so the fine plant particles are redistributed through the liquid.

Authority guidance

  • The Norwegian Food Safety Authority recommends good hand hygiene and clean utensils during food preparation.
  • It identifies insufficient heating, slow cooling, excessive refrigerator temperature and poor cleaning as common causes of food poisoning.
  • It recommends rapid cooling where appropriate and a refrigerator temperature of 4 °C or lower.
  • It recommends keeping raw foods separate from cooked/ready-to-eat foods to reduce cross-contamination.
  • It states that children under one year must not be given honey or products containing honey.
  • The Norwegian Directorate of Health recommends limiting frequent intake of acidic drinks such as juice because this can increase the risk of dental erosion.

Our own kitchen standards / recipe choices

  • Wash raw ingredients and work on a clean surface.
  • Keep clean and unclean stages separated throughout the process.
  • Equipment contacting filtered or finished product should be thoroughly cleaned and, where suitable, heat-disinfected.
  • Lemon and citric acid are part of the flavor/acidity profile, but we do not claim a specific safe pH without measurement.
  • Gentle final processing is cooled promptly and treated as a fresh refrigerated product.
  • Preserving final processing uses about 90 °C final heating, hot fill at about 85 °C or higher, a tight cap and rapid cooling.
  • Both versions are stored at 4 °C or colder and for a limited period.
  • Open one bottle at a time to reduce repeated contamination of the remaining batch.
  • Natural sediment is expected; shake before use.
  • Discard if there is mold, abnormal odor, obvious unwanted fermentation, unusual gas/swelling or other clear abnormalities.

Acidic drinks and dental health

This shot contains lemon and added citric acid and is therefore acidic. Frequent acid contact with teeth can increase erosion risk. Avoid sipping over long periods; water can be used to rinse the mouth afterwards. Follow dental-health guidance from the Norwegian Directorate of Health.
